This is also know as "bandha kala" and Khandua Silks are truly master pieces depicting culture of Odisha since 12th Century. These are available in both Silk and Cotton fabric. Pasapali Border. Pasa means "Chess" ; PasaPali means Chessboard. Its the game of Pasa that led to the war of Mahabharata. Inspired from this story, weavers had weaved this pasapali pattern on a saree which became very popular worldwide with the name of pasapali saree. This khandua pata saree has a siingle pasapali border along with small red phoda kumbha (temple) pattern.
