Linen is a fabric that is made from fibers of flax plant. It is very strong, absorbent and dries faster than cotton. Because of these properties, linen is comfortable to wear in hot weather and is valued for use in garments. It also has other distinctive characteristics, notably its tendency to wrinkle.

Linen fabric feels cool to touch. It is smooth, making the finished fabric lint-free, and gets softer the more it is washed. It can be washed in cold water using a mild detergent and doesn't need much maintenance or iron for that matter.

Linen is laborious to manufacture. The harvesting of flax plants is a costly and longthy affair which makes linen an expensive fabric. The fact that it is not an easy fiber to weave also adds to the cost. However the end result makes Linen a luxurious fabric.
