Description

Brukshya Debata Sambalpuri Pure Silk Saree

A rare handwoven masterpiece by National Award & Sant Kabir Award recipient Master Weaver Shri Iswar Meher.

Some sarees are admired for their beauty.

Some are remembered for the story they carry.

This exceptional Sambalpuri Bandha Silk Saree belongs to the latter.

Handwoven by Shri Iswar Meher, recipient of the National Award and the Sant Kabir Award (instituted by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India), this masterpiece transforms an ancient philosophical thought into a remarkable woven narrative.

At the heart of its pallu lies the Brukshya Debata composition—an extraordinary interpretation inspired by a shloka from the Matsya Purana, celebrating the immeasurable value of trees.

A pond equals ten wells, a lake equals 10 ponds
A son equals 10 lakes, and a tree equals 10 sons

Rather than limiting the message to words, the weaver gives the philosophy visual form.

Lord Brahma is portrayed meditating beneath the Banyan tree.

Lord Vishnu beneath the Peepal tree.

Lord Mahesh (Shiva) beneath the Rudraksha tree.

The woven Sanskrit verse and the sacred imagery together create a pallu that invites contemplation as much as admiration.
