Katan Silk Banarasi

Katan is a plain-woven pure silk fabric with pure silk threads on both warp and weft. On the warp it consists of two threads twisted together to give the finished fabric the impeccable shine it is so famous for. When banarasi saree is woven on katan silk fabric, it is known as Katan Banarasi. Banarasi Sarees are also available in a variety of fabrics... Satin silk, Organza, Silk-Cotton, Linen and Cotton to mention a few. And this katan silk weaving technique can be most commonly seen in Banarasi, Chanderi and Bishnupuri Silk Sarees.
