Sachipar: A Khandua Saree with crisscrossing lines across the body. This is again one of those most popular designs from #odishaikat that has seen generations through, but still very much in trend. The design is simple, but appeals to masses, because checks are always in! In this case the lines are dainty and gel with the body without standing out too much giving it a subtle vibe. The border as with most khandua sarees from #Nuapatna has #ikkat motifs sandwiched between two layers. However what makes this saree special is the mayura chandrika motives added to the body! Double delight I would say!

This particular piece is made with #mulberrysilk . The color is a bright sky blue that is quite eye catchy if you ask me. Very unusual shade...especially if compared to the subtle Odisha handloom sarees in general. The double border, one in black, and one in red combined with the blazing vermillion red temples ( #phodakumbha ) make it a great option for those who like bright colors.  Do notice the animal motifs on the Pallu. The lightweight silk (about 450gms) makes it easy to wear and take care of. So definitely one of those silks that get to see the day light often. This saree does not have a blouse piece.

Khandua Pata is one of the most popular sarees from Odisha Handloom as it is also offered to be draped around Lord Jagannath of Puri. The pure mulberry silk khandua pata is also popular for being extremely light weight. These sarees have symbols and motifs inspired from our culture and mythology which are weaved on to the sarees using tie & dye Ikkat technique. This is also know as "bandha kala" and Khandua Silks are truly master pieces depicting culture of Odisha since 12th Century. These are available in both Silk and Cotton fabric. The true essence of a Khandua Sarees lies in the border and anchal that tells you stories if you have an eye for detail.
