Odisha Handloom as the name suggests is from the culturally rich state of Odisha where an array of traditional weaves can be found and each with a very different approach and technique. Sambalpuri Bandha (Ikkat), Bomkai, Khandua / Nuapatna Weaves, Dongria, Kotpad, Gopalpur Tussar, Dolabedi, Habaspuri, Siminoi are a few that are popular worldwide for their elegance.

The Sambalpuri Ikkat Saree originates from the state of Odisha. It is made from fabric woven on a hand-loom using tie and dye technique. The yarns are tied and dyed according to the pre conceived design/pattern on that particular saree and then weavers weave magic with their hands. Though sounds like a normal technique, this weaving method, also known as "Baandha Kala" needs expertise to get the desired result.

Bandha kala incorporates traditional motifs like shankha (shell)chakra (wheel), phula (flower), all of which are a symbol of native Odia Culture.  These Sambalpuri sarees are often seen in the colour combination of black, red and white inspired from the face of Lord Jagannath, which again depicts Odisha's strong cultural influence on this form of weaving.
