Madurai Sungudi Cotton

Madurai Sungudi Cotton Sarees have been very popular amongst saree lovers of all ages because of their bright colors and intricately detailed zari borders that make them a very comfortable occasional wear option for humid months. These sarees are handwoven. Very adaptable for daily as well as occasional wear, these sarees are low on maintenance without compromising on the look. Madurai Sungudi Sarees, once dyed is kept in the wet state for 2-3 days before being washed in Vaigai River water. This river water is believed to add a bbeautiful sheen to these sarees. This process is then repeated many times before steaming and drying the sarees on the river banks. That's the reason sometimes sand/ dirt is found on the sarees. However these spots can easily be cleaned with a wash with mild detergent.
